Two Fussy Blokes 2 Inch Microfibre Paint Roller Sleeves 10mm Nap (4 Pack)

Two inches of roller is what you reach for when a brush leaves marks and a 4 inch sleeve will not fit. Bannister spindles, narrow glazing bars, the back of a radiator, the edge of a cabinet door.

The Two Fussy Blokes 2 Inch microfibre sleeve has a 10mm nap with a semi-smooth pile — long enough to carry a useful amount of paint into small work, short enough to leave a flat finish rather than a stipple. Sold in packs of four.

What it suits

• Water-based primers and topcoats — this is a waterborne sleeve, not one for solvent gloss.
• Previously painted joinery and MDF, where the surface is sound but not perfectly flat.
• Radiators, metal bannisters and gates — the places a 4 inch sleeve cannot reach cleanly.
• Weatherboard, plywood and cement board on smaller runs and cut-ins.

Working with it

The manufacturer's own advice is worth following: rinse and spin the sleeve before the first use. New microfibre carries loose fibre, and thirty seconds under a tap saves picking it out of a topcoat.

Loaded properly this sleeve releases evenly enough that laying off is usually unnecessary — going back over a semi-smooth pile with a dry roller tends to drag rather than improve it.

Making them last

Wash thoroughly after every use and keep the fabric damp between coats. Microfibre that dries out hard does not recover, which is what turns a four pack into a one pack.
