Mirka DEXOS 1230 M AFC Dust Extractor 30L with Hose & Sleeve 4m
The 30 litre DEXOS, ready to run from the box. Same machine as the base unit (1,200 W brushless motor, automatic filter cleaning, M-class filtration, two auto-start sockets) with the 4 m hose and the Mirka sleeve already in the lid.
The sleeve is the part worth understanding. It zips the hose and the sander’s power cable into one line, so there is one lead from extractor to tool instead of two twisting round each other, snagging on the ladder and catching the edge you have just sanded. On a ceiling, or anywhere the hose goes over your shoulder, it is the difference between the extractor helping and the extractor being in the way.
The numbers that matter
- Dust class M: retains 99.9% of dust; rated for dusts with an occupational exposure limit of 0.1 mg/m³ and above: plaster, MDF, hardwood, cement, old coatings.
- 42 litres a second (151 m³/h) and 25 kPa: full-speed extraction on a 150 mm Deros.
- 30 litre container, dry or wet. 14 kg before the hose.
- Two auto-start sockets: the sander starts the extractor.
- 77.7 dB(A), 7.5 m cable, foot brake, top handle.
This or the base unit?
Buy this if you are setting up from nothing. The base unit plus a separate 27 mm hose is the cheaper route if you already own the hose, but it does not get you the sleeve, and the sleeve is what stops the cable being the thing you trip on.
Working with it
Automatic filter cleaning keeps the pull constant through a day’s sanding without stopping to knock the filter out, and the myMirka app warns you before airflow drops far enough to matter. The filter is 0.5 m²; a HEPA filter can be fitted for the finest dusts. Use the DEXOS 1230 fleece dust bags, Mirka code MIX1216171. They are a separate part from the ones the earlier 1230 takes, and the two do not interchange.
What it is not
Not an H-class machine. Asbestos or lead paint at H-class levels needs an H-rated extractor. And it is a 4 m reach: on a big ceiling from a pole, plan where the machine sits before you start.
Mirka article MIX12301222. It comes with a European plug and we supply an adapter with it, so it goes straight into an Irish socket. Mirka give two years from the date of purchase, and a third year free if the tool is registered within 30 days at my.mirka.com or in the myMirka app. Mirka require the owner to register it, so that part is not something we can do for you. Continuous industrial use is covered for one year. Full operating instructions and the parts diagram are in Datasheets below.
