Mirka DEXOS 1217 M AFC Dust Extractor 17L (No Hose)
The compact DEXOS, for the jobs where the extractor goes up the stairs, into the van and out again every day. Same motor and the same pull as the 30 litre 1230, in a 17 litre body that weighs 13 kg.
The Mirka DEXOS 1217 M AFC is an M-class wet-and-dry extractor with a 1,200 W brushless motor, automatic filter cleaning, two auto-start sockets and a Bluetooth link to the myMirka app. This is the base unit without a hose.
The numbers that matter
- Dust class M: retains 99.9% of dust; rated for dusts with an occupational exposure limit of 0.1 mg/m³ and above: plaster, MDF, hardwood, cement, old coatings.
- 42 litres a second (151 m³/h) and 25 kPa: identical to the 1230. You give up nothing in suction, only in how often you empty it.
- 17 litre container, dry or wet.
- Two auto-start sockets, so the extractor starts and stops with the tool.
- 13 kg, with a top handle, a foot-operated brake and a 7.5 m cable. 77.7 dB(A).
1217 or 1230?
The 30 litres on the 1230 is for a workshop, or a long run of ceilings where the machine sits in one place all day. The 1217 is for a decorator who carries it: it goes on the passenger seat, up a stairwell and behind a door, and empties more often in return. Same filter, same HEPA option; its own fleece bags.
Working with it
Plug the sander into one of the two sockets and the extractor starts and stops with the tool. Automatic filter cleaning keeps the pull constant without stopping to knock the filter, and the app warns you before airflow drops far enough to matter. Hose and cable stow inside the lid; the filter is 0.5 m² and a HEPA filter can be fitted for the finest dusts.
It takes a 27 mm hose, and the Mirka 27 mm x 4 m hose with connector is the standard pairing. Bags are the DEXOS 1217 fleece bags, Mirka code MIX1215171, which is a different part from the one the 1230 takes.
What it is not
Not an H-class machine. Asbestos or lead paint at H-class levels needs an H-rated extractor. And it is the base unit: no hose in the box, so add one at the same time if you are starting from nothing.
Mirka article MIX12171220. It comes with a European plug and we supply an adapter with it, so it goes straight into an Irish socket. Mirka give two years from the date of purchase, and a third year free if the tool is registered within 30 days at my.mirka.com or in the myMirka app. Mirka require the owner to register it, so that part is not something we can do for you. Continuous industrial use is covered for one year. Full operating instructions and the parts diagram are in Datasheets below.
