Mirka DEXOS 1230 M AFC Dust Extractor 30L (No Hose)
Sanding plasterboard, MDF, hardwood or old paint, the dust off the sander is the health-and-safety line item on the job, and an L-class extractor does not meet it. This is the machine for the sites that specify M-class.
The Mirka DEXOS 1230 M AFC is Mirka’s new full-size extractor: a 30 litre wet-and-dry drum with a 1,200 W brushless motor, automatic filter cleaning, two auto-start sockets and a Bluetooth link to the myMirka app. This is the base unit without a hose: for a workshop that already has one, or a van that wants to choose its own length.
The numbers that matter
- Dust class M: retains 99.9% of dust, and is rated for dusts with an occupational exposure limit of 0.1 mg/m³ and above: plaster, MDF, hardwood, cement, old coatings.
- 42 litres a second (151 m³/h) and 25 kPa of vacuum: the pull that keeps a 150 mm Deros sanding clean at full speed.
- 30 litre container, dry or wet.
- Two auto-start sockets: a Deros and a work light, both starting with the tool.
- 77.7 dB(A): quiet enough to hold a conversation over.
- 14 kg, with a top handle, a foot-operated brake and a 7.5 m cable.
What AFC actually does
Every extractor loses suction as the filter loads up. Most make you stop and knock it clean. Automatic filter cleaning does it on the move, so the pull stays constant through a full day’s sanding, and the myMirka app warns you before airflow drops far enough to matter.
Working with it
Plug the sander into one of the two sockets on the extractor and it starts and stops with the tool. There is storage inside the lid for a 4 m hose and the cable. The filter is 0.5 m², and a HEPA filter can be fitted for the finest dusts, though one is not included.
It takes a 27 mm hose, and the Mirka 27 mm x 4 m hose with connector is the standard pairing. For bags, make sure you order the DEXOS 1230 fleece bags, Mirka code MIX1216171, and not the ones for the earlier 1230. They are a different part and they do not interchange.
What it is not
Not an H-class machine. Asbestos or lead paint at H-class levels needs an H-rated extractor. And it is the base unit: there is no hose in the box, so if you are starting from nothing, add the hose at the same time or the machine sits in the van until it arrives.
Mirka article MIX12301220. It comes with a European plug and we supply an adapter with it, so it goes straight into an Irish socket. Mirka give two years from the date of purchase, and a third year free if the tool is registered within 30 days at my.mirka.com or in the myMirka app. Mirka require the owner to register it, so that part is not something we can do for you.
