Mirka DEXOS 1217 M AFC Dust Extractor 17L with Hose & Sleeve 4m
The carry-everywhere DEXOS, complete. The 17 litre 1217 with the 4 m hose and the Mirka sleeve in the box. Open it, plug in the sander, and you are extracting.
For a decorator working room to room, this is the sensible configuration. At 13 kg the machine goes up a stairwell in one hand; the sleeve zips the hose and the sander’s cable into a single line, so there is one lead trailing behind you instead of two wrapping round each other at every doorframe.
The numbers that matter
- Dust class M: retains 99.9% of dust; rated for plaster, MDF, hardwood, cement and old coatings.
- 42 litres a second (151 m³/h) and 25 kPa: the same pull as the 30 litre 1230.
- 17 litre container, dry or wet. 13 kg before the hose.
- Two auto-start sockets: the sander starts the extractor.
- 77.7 dB(A), 7.5 m cable, foot brake, top handle.
This or the base unit?
Starting from nothing, buy this. Already own a 27 mm hose, buy the base unit and save the difference, knowing you go without the sleeve, which on a compact machine you are moving all day is the thing that keeps the cable off the floor.
Working with it
Automatic filter cleaning keeps suction constant through a day’s sanding without stopping to knock the filter, and the myMirka app warns before airflow drops far enough to matter. Hose and cable stow inside the lid. The filter is 0.5 m²; a HEPA filter can be fitted. Bags are the DEXOS 1217 fleece bags, Mirka code MIX1215171, which is a different part from the one the 1230 takes.
What it is not
Not an H-class machine. Asbestos or lead paint at H-class levels needs an H-rated extractor. And 17 litres fills faster than 30: on a long day of plaster it is the emptying, not the suction, that decides between this and the 1230.
Mirka article MIX12171222. It comes with a European plug and we supply an adapter with it, so it goes straight into an Irish socket. Mirka give two years from the date of purchase, and a third year free if the tool is registered within 30 days at my.mirka.com or in the myMirka app. Mirka require the owner to register it, so that part is not something we can do for you.
