Mirka Clean-Up Kit 32mm for Dust Extractors

An M class extractor is the best vacuum on most sites, and most of them spend the day connected to a sander and then watch somebody sweep up with a brush.

This is Mirka's clean-up kit for their dust extractors, the set of tubes and nozzles that turns the machine you already own into a site vacuum. Mirka code 8999799111.

What is in it

• Hose: 4 metres, 32mm diameter.
• Tubes: two stainless steel, 500mm each, so about a metre of reach when joined.
• Nozzles: a floor nozzle for open areas and a brush nozzle, which Mirka single out as the part that makes the kit worth having.

Note the hose size

32mm, which is the cleaning side rather than the sanding side. Mirka use 20mm on the hand sanding blocks and 27mm on the power tools and extractor inlet, so this is a third diameter and it does not interchange with either. It is wider on purpose: you want volume for picking up debris, not the airspeed a sander needs.

What it fits

Mirka list it as compatible with the DEXOS 1217 and DEXOS 1230 extractors, in the base and hose versions alike, so it suits any of the DEXOS machines we stock. If you are running the earlier 1230 L, check the inlet before you order, and note Mirka make a 32 to 54mm hose adapter for connecting into other sizes.

Why it is worth the money on a dusty job

Sweeping plaster dust puts it back in the air, which is the thing an M class machine was bought to prevent. Vacuuming it up through the same filtration you sanded through keeps it out of the room and out of the next coat. On an occupied house that is the difference between a job that looks finished and one that leaves a film on everything for a week.
