Window frames and panel doors are the work the DEOS 353 was built for, and they are also the work where a bare plate cannot reach the shape. The interface is the foam that fixes that.

Mirka Interface 81 x 133 mm 54H is a 7mm foam cushion that goes between the machine plate and a Grip abrasive. Mirka's purpose for it is sanding rounded surfaces and contours, and they note it gives a softer result than sanding without one. Five to a pack.

What the 7mm buys you

Enough give to follow a shallow curve, a rounded edge or a glazing bead, without so much travel that you lose the flat. On a run of sash windows that means you can work the flats and the mouldings with the same abrasive and the same machine, rather than putting the tool down and picking up a hand pad every time the surface changes shape.

It also takes the bite off a flat pass, which matters on thin previously painted joinery where a bare plate can cut through an arris before you have noticed.

54 hole, which is more than the plate has

The holes have to let air through to the extraction behind, so the pattern matters. This is the 54 hole pattern, and the net plate on a DEOS 353 is 46 hole. That is deliberate rather than a mismatch: Mirka give the accessory more holes than the pad so the airflow finds a path whichever way round it goes on.

If what you want is pad protection

That is a pad saver, not this. A pad saver is a thin sacrificial layer whose job is to wear out instead of the hook and loop on your plate. This is foam, and its job is to change how the tool cuts.
