Bare concrete drinks the first coat, and a coating on an unsealed slab holds on to very little.
The Juno Dynapok Agua 2k water-based floor primer is the two-pack epoxy that seals it first: one heavily watered coat under a floor coating, or the same material at lighter dilution as the finish itself. Thinned with water, interior floors only. Stocked in 4L and 15L.
What it goes on
- Cement and concrete floors: a fresh pour has to be fully set, minimum one month, and completely dry.
- Old paint: excellent adhesion on old paint as well as bare mineral surfaces.
- Tar, bitumen and asphalt: 15 days after laying, and matt down anything shiny first.
Mixing, dilution and coats
The ratio is 8 parts A to 3 parts B by volume, 72:28 by weight. Add B to A slowly and stir a full two minutes, until properly homogenised; an off-ratio or half-mixed batch never cures. Pot life is 60 minutes: a hard stop, so size each batch to the hour.
- Priming: one coat, thinned up to 50% with water.
- As the finish: three coats minimum: the first thinned up to 30%, then two at up to 10%.
- Coverage: 10 to 12 m²/L per coat, surface dependent. Count the coats before ordering: as the finish, that is three.
- Touch dry: 8 to 10 hours.
- Recoat: not before 24 hours and not after 3 days. Past 72 hours the last coat needs a light sanding or the next one bonds to nothing.
Conditions it has to be applied in
- Above 15°C: through application and the whole cure, so not a coat laid late on a slab that drops below 15°C overnight.
- Relative humidity 75% maximum.
- Surface 3°C or more above dew point: mid-afternoon on a cold slab, not first thing.
- Substrate moisture under 4%: metered before a lid comes off.
- Rising damp ruled out: dealt with at source, not primed over.
- No rain or heavy wind due.
- Nothing wet on it for 24 hours: no condensation or standing water, and ventilate a closed area while it dries.
What it will not do
Interior floors only, and not a metal primer. Juno publishes no adhesion or preparation data for steel, galvanised or aluminium. Nor is it back in service next morning: vehicles stay off for a week to reach full hardness.
