A powder paste you mix with cold water, for hanging woodchip, paper, vinyl and non-woven wallpapers on mineral surfaces and gypsum board. Decotric Universal Pink Wallpaper Paste 250g is a synthetic-reinforced starch ether paste. Decotric call it Power Universal Pink-Control, article 022405026.
Mixed, the paste is pink, so you can see where you have pasted and where you have missed. It dries transparent and smells of lemon.
Mixing and coverage
- Pre-pasting and priming, 1:40: 10 litres water per box, 40 to 44 m².
- Light paper-backed wallpapers, 1:30: 7.5 litres per box, about 35 m², about 7 rolls.
- Heavyweight wallpapers and reinforcing fabrics, 1:20: 5 litres per box, 25 to 35 m², 5 to 7 rolls.
Read those three rows before you buy. A box that does 7 rolls of light paper does 5 of heavyweight, and the 44 m² figure is the pre-pasting ratio, not a hanging figure.
Usage is roughly 200 ml of mixed paste per m². Sprinkle the powder into moving water rather than tipping it in and stirring afterwards. Stir a few minutes, leave it five, then stir hard again.
Surface preparation
Decotric want the wall dry, firm and clean, with peeling paper and old distemper stripped off and absorbent or chalking surfaces pretreated first.
Limits and storage
Do not use it if the object or room temperature is below 5 degrees Celsius. Store it cool, dry and above freezing in the closed box. Shelf life is at least five years from the printed production date.
The dry powder carries a dust explosion risk: keep it clear of ignition sources, and no smoking while you handle it. Decotric publish no soaking time and no drying time, only the five minute stand after mixing, so work to the wallpaper manufacturer's instructions. Residue wipes off damp.
