Wooster Gold Edge Firm Flat Sash Paint Brushes
The angled brush gets all the attention, but a great deal of trim work is covering, not cutting. Door panels, flush doors, wide skirting, window boards — surfaces where what you want is an even film laid off cleanly, not a fine line.
That's the flat sash brush: square end, full-width working edge, firm CT polyester filament.
Flat versus angled
An angled tip concentrates the working edge into a point. That's what makes it precise, and what makes it slow over an area. A square end puts the whole width to work at once and lays off without leaving a heavier band down one side.
If you catch yourself turning an angled brush sideways to cover a panel, this is the brush you actually wanted.
Why firm
Firm polyester holds its shape in water-based paint through a full day, and it has the backbone to move heavy-bodied waterborne trim paints rather than bending underneath them.
For thinner paints and gloss, where levelling matters more than push, the Silver Tip Soft is the better call.
