The Roll Roy 100mm Wall & Floor Scraper is the blunt instrument for those — a 100mm replaceable blade in a handle built to be pushed hard.
What it's for
- Adhesive residue on floors — the layer left after lifting vinyl, carpet or tiles, which sanding shifts painfully slowly.
- Stubborn wallpaper backing that survives steaming.
- Lumps of dried compound and texture on walls and ceilings, before you start filling.
- Site clean-up — paint spots on floors, splashes on glass and tile, plaster left on a windowsill.
Working with it
This is a low-angle, two-handed tool. Keep the blade shallow to the surface and push through with your body weight rather than your wrist. Coming in too steep digs a corner in and gouges the substrate you were meant to be preparing.
Change the blade the moment it stops cutting. A blunt scraper needs far more force, and force is what turns a removal job into a repair job. Replacement blades come in packs of ten.
What not to use it on
Anything you intend to keep as it is. This is a preparation tool and it marks anything softer than the blade — which is most things.
