What's in the set

• 1 × round sash, size 14 — frames, detail and smaller work.

Pro-Hybrid filament

100% synthetic. The Pro-Hybrid range was developed to carry the working characteristics of Staalmeester's traditional mix brushes — the paint-holding, the balance, the release — with no natural bristle in the head at all.

The practical consequence is that it doesn't soften in water. Natural bristle swells and goes limp in water-based paint, and modern trim work is overwhelmingly water-based, so a brush that holds its shape through a full day is doing something a traditional brush simply can't.

The round shape

A round head holds considerably more paint than a flat brush and tapers to a point that still cuts a clean line. Fewer reloads, longer strokes, and a wet edge that runs further before it starts to drag.

It feels different in the hand at first. Give it a door or two before judging it.

Which of the two sets

Three brushes here against five in the 9030 set, which uses the synthetic mix filament and adds a second size 16 plus a size 18. Start here if you're trying the shape; go to the 9030 once you know you like it.
