Purdy 4.5 Inch Ultra Finish Jumbo Microfibre Paint Roller Sleeve (2 Pack)

A 4.5 inch microfibre sleeve for the parts of an interior job a full-size roller cannot reach cleanly: doors, trim, cabinet fronts and the narrow strips of wall between frames. The Purdy 4.5 Inch Ultra Finish Jumbo sleeve picks up paint well, releases it evenly and leaves very little lint behind, which is what you want under semi-gloss and gloss.

It needs a jumbo frame

This is a jumbo mini sleeve on a 3/4 inch polypropylene core. It will not go on a standard mini roller frame, which takes a much thinner core. It fits jumbo mini frames, such as the Purdy 4 Inch Revolution Jumbo Paint Roller Frame. There are two sleeves in the pack.

What it's for

• Surfaces: smooth interior walls, doors, trim and floors. The pack rates the 12mm (1/2 inch) nap for smooth surfaces.
• Paints: water-based and oil-based, in any sheen. Purdy rate it best with semi-gloss and gloss.
• Fabric: microfibre, the same fabric Purdy use on their full-size Ultra Finish sleeves.

Working with it

Because the fabric matches, you can roll the edges, doors and narrow sections with this sleeve and the open walls with the Purdy 18 Inch Ultra Finish sleeve, and the texture will match where the two meet. Roll back over a brushed cut-in band while it is still wet and it picks up the same finish as the rest of the wall.

What it is not for

Rough or textured surfaces such as render, brick or pebbledash. The 12mm nap is a smooth-surface sleeve and will not carry enough paint into deep texture. For those, use a longer pile.
