Osmo Oil Finish Applicator Hand Pad Fleece 95x155mm
Osmo's oils and hardwax finishes are designed to be applied thin. Thicker isn't better with them — over-application is the main cause of a sticky surface that never quite cures, and the reason people conclude the product "doesn't dry".
The applicator fleece is how you get them on thin and even. 95 × 155mm, sized for the Osmo hand pad holder.
Why a fleece rather than a brush or a cloth
A fleece holds a controlled amount of oil and releases it evenly across its whole face.
A brush lays down more than the timber can absorb, and leaves brush marks in a finish meant to look wiped rather than painted. A cloth is unpredictable — it either dumps oil or runs dry depending which part of it you happen to be using.
Using it
- Work with the grain, in a thin and even coat.
- If the surface still looks wet after a few minutes, you've put on too much. Wipe the surplus back off before it starts to set.
- Keep the pad in its holder — that's what gives even pressure across the face.
Not the same as the white pad
The fleece applies oil. The white Super-Pad works it in and lightly abrades. Different jobs, same holder, and most Osmo work uses both.
Disposal — worth reading
Oil-soaked pads and rags can self-heat as the oil cures, and have started fires. Lay them out flat outdoors to dry, or put them in water in a sealed metal tin. Never leave them screwed up in a bin bag.
