Nour 4 Inch Radiator Roller Frame Long

The gap behind a radiator is one of the few places in a room where there's no good technique — only the right tool, or a compromise. A standard mini roller frame is too short to reach the bottom of the wall, and a brush taped to a stick leaves runs you can't see to lay off.

The Nour Long Radiator Roller Frame is a 4 inch mini frame on an extended handle, made for exactly that gap.

Where it earns its place

• Behind radiators — the obvious one. Reaches the full drop of the wall without taking the radiator off and draining the system.
• Behind pipework, cisterns and soil stacks, where clearance is a few centimetres.
• Behind fitted furniture and kitchen units that aren't coming out.
• Behind downpipes and guttering, where the same problem exists outdoors.

Practical notes

Takes standard 4 inch (100mm) mini roller sleeves, so you can match the sleeve to the paint and the finish you're after rather than being tied to one type.

Short pile sleeves work best in tight gaps. A thick nap carries too much paint into a space you can't see into, and the excess runs down the back of the wall where there's no reaching it. For the same reason, load the sleeve lightly — it's tempting to fill it before going in, but anything that runs behind a radiator stays there permanently.

Worth keeping one in the kit year-round. It's the sort of tool you need twice a year and cannot improvise when you do.
