Mirka Abranet Sanding Strips 80 x 230mm (10 Pack)
One abrasive, two tools. The 80 by 230mm strip is the format the Mirka hand block takes and the format the DecoSander takes on its rectangular pad, so a single box covers hand work at the bench and pole work on a ceiling.
Mirka Abranet Sanding Strips 80 x 230mm are the net abrasive in that size. The whole strip is an open polyamide mesh, so the extraction pulls dust off the full face rather than at a line of holes, and that is what stops it loading up on filler the way paper does after a few passes.
The three grits
- P80: proud filler and old coatings, where there is material to come off.
- P120: the flatting grit, and the one most of a plastering or filling job gets done with.
- P180: refining before primer.
If you need to go finer than P180 in a hand format, the Goldflex Soft pads and roll carry on up to P600 on a foam backing, which suits profiled work better anyway.
It only works with the extraction on
Net holds off clogging by moving air through the mesh. On the hand block that means the 20mm hose and an extractor, and it means opening the suction valve on the block enough to pull but not so much that the block grips the wall. Used dry with nothing connected, a net strip loads up like any other abrasive, which is the single thing people get wrong with it.
