Graco Ultra QuickShot II Portable Airless Sprayer
The job a big airless is wrong for: a single door, a run of skirting, a radiator, the back of a bookcase, a piece of furniture in the workshop. Setting up a floor-standing machine for that takes longer than the spraying, and cleaning it out afterwards wastes more paint than you put on the wall.
The Graco Ultra QuickShot II is a cordless handheld airless built for exactly that work. A 1 litre cup on the gun, a DEWALT battery on the back, and a triple-piston ProConnect pump between them. It sprays water-based, solvent-based and flammable coatings — so a solvent lacquer or a 2K is not off the table.
The numbers that matter
- Max tip 0.016 inch — the constraint that sets what it will push. Fine-finish and trim paints, primers, lacquers and stains, through the RAC X FF LP SwitchTips it takes. Not heavy masonry, not texture.
- 100–2,000 psi (7–138 bar), dialled on the gun, so you can drop the pressure for a fine coating rather than fog the room.
- 1.8 m flexible hose holding just 30 ml of material — a colour change costs almost nothing.
- Two DEWALT 20V MAX 2.0 Ah batteries supplied — the pack DEWALT sells as 18V XR here — each good for around 3.8 litres of material before a swap.
- 2.9 kg for the sprayer, with a belt carrying system so the weight sits on your hip, not your wrist.
What is new over the original QuickShot
Two things, both about the end of the day. Quick Flush is a cleaning mode that flushes the system up to twice as fast. Easy Out filtration lets you pull the filter without stripping the pump, so a clog is a minute rather than a job. Pump, pressure range, cup and hose are as before.
Working with it
Strain everything into the cup. A handheld has no inlet strainer to save you, and at 0.016 inch a fleck of paint skin is a spit in the finish. Two Easy Out filters come in the box — the 60 mesh for emulsions and primers, the 100 mesh for lacquers and stains. Two tips as well: the FF LP 410 (8 inch fan, 0.010 orifice) for fine work and the FF LP 514 (10 inch fan, 0.014) for doors and trim. Rated to work between 4 and 32°C. Flush with a charged battery on it; a flush on a dying battery leaves material sitting in the pump.
What it is not
Not a wall machine. Around 3.8 litres per battery is a door and its frame, not a room, and refilling a 1 litre cup at ceiling height is slow. For walls and ceilings the GX21 or a 390 does the work in a fraction of the time. This earns its place on the trim, the small jobs and the awkward ones.
In the box: sprayer and gun, 1 litre cup, 1.8 m hose, RAC X tip guard with FF LP 410 and 514 SwitchTips, 60 and 100 mesh Easy Out filters, two DEWALT batteries with fast charger, grounding cable, belt carrying system and carry bag. 230V.
