FM Assorted Touch Up Brushes

Every job ends with the same twenty minutes: a chip on an architrave, a missed edge behind a radiator, a scuff where a ladder touched the wall. Using a proper cutting-in brush for that work means washing it out for the sake of a teaspoon of paint. These are the brushes you use instead — and then throw away.

Assorted small touch-up brushes from Fast Movers, sold singly.

What they're for

• Touching in chips, nicks and missed spots at the end of a job.
• Detail and small-area work — beading, mouldings, edges of ironmongery, small repairs.
• Two-pack and specialist materials, where the product would ruin a good brush anyway. Epoxies, catalysed lacquers and adhesives are all better applied with something disposable.
• Colour matching and sampling, where you want a clean brush for each colour rather than washing between them.

Why buy a handful at a time

The arithmetic is straightforward. A brush at this price costs less than the white spirit you'd use cleaning it, and far less than the time. Keeping a box in the van means you're never choosing between dipping a good sash brush into a filler-stained tin and leaving the touch-up until the next visit.

They're also the sensible option for anything you'd rather not send down a drain. Use it, wrap it, bin it — no solvent, no rinse water, no residue in the sink.
