Decotric Wood Fix Wood Glue 250g
Decotric Wood Fix Wood Glue 250g is a solvent-free one-part wood glue for waterproof bonds to EN 204-D3, indoors and outdoors. Decotric list it for all standard types of wood, derived timber products and laminated sheets, and name laminates, parquet flooring and oriented strand boards specifically.
It is a polyvinyl acetate dispersion, supplied ready to spread from the 250g tube. Spread rate is 150 to 200 g/m², and that is the total even when both faces are glued.
Making the joint
- Preparation: pieces cut ready to fit, faces firm and free of release agents such as dust or formwork oil.
- Application: brush or gluing comb on both faces, then close the joint while the glue is still moist.
- Pressing: roughly 1 N/mm² for about 15 minutes. Laminated sheets can take 3 N/mm² for 30 minutes.
- Tongue and groove floors: strands along both sides of the tongue, push the boards together and knock them home, then take off the squeeze-out with a damp cloth before it grabs.
- Tools: into water the moment you put them down.
Conditions and timings
Decotric give the ideal wood moisture content as 8 to 12%, and say moisture above that lengthens the setting time. Worth a meter reading on boards that have sat on site. Do not apply below +5 degrees Celsius surface or room temperature.
The data sheet publishes pressing times only, no open time and no full cure figure, so close every joint while the adhesive is wet rather than working to a clock. On pre-fabricated parquet and laminate, the floor covering manufacturer's gluing guidelines apply too.
Decotric's own name for this article is Power Wood-Fix, art. no. 007902173, the name on the manufacturer's data sheet. Store it tightly sealed, cool and clear of frost.
