Decotric Easy Fill Instant Filler 400g
Ready-to-use filler for two jobs: making good cracks and holes, and filling an uneven surface flat. Decotric Easy Fill Instant Filler 400g, which Decotric sell as Power Easy-Fill, is for walls, ceilings and facades, inside and out, and goes on straight from the tub with no mixing or diluting.
It is a fibre-reinforced emulsion-resin filler (styrene-acrylate). Decotric publish it as fibre-reinforced for high stability, weatherproof and moisture-resistant, and say it hardens without cracking.
What it goes on
- Mineral surfaces: concrete, pre-fabricated concrete elements, air-entrained concrete and clay tiles.
- Plaster and board: lime, cement and gypsum based plasters, and gypsum boards.
- Sound emulsion paint: on uneven or rough ceilings, walls and facades.
Before you fill
Get the wall dry, solid and clean of dust and grease. Old peeling paper and distemper come off first, and Decotric call for highly absorbent, sanding or chalking surfaces to be primed before any filler goes on. Cracks and holes are made good before a full-surface fill, not during it.
Laying it on
Work it on with a smoothing trowel. Decotric cap the layer thickness at 5mm and put consumption at roughly 1.7 kg/m² for a 1 mm coat, so take your quantity off the area and the depth.
Smooth or felt the surface while the filler is still moist, which is how Decotric say to take unevenness out. It sands once hard, and everything rinses off in water before it sets.
Let the filled area dry right through before any paint or adhesive goes on. No primer is needed over it before papering or painting.
What it will not do
Decotric state it is not suitable for filling work on wood, metal, glass or plastic. Do not use it if the surface or room temperature is below 5 degrees Celsius. Keep the lid tight and store it above freezing.
