Anza 9 Inch Paint Tray

A paint tray isn't a complicated object, and the differences that matter are easy to overlook until you're standing there using one.

This is Anza's 9 inch tray: deep plastic, with a moulded pouring recess.

What the recess does

The moulded pour point lets you decant leftovers back into the tin without it running down the outside of the tray and onto the floor. Trays without one make a mess of every single colour change.

Depth, and the roll-off

Depth matters twice over: it holds enough paint to keep working without constant topping up, and a deep well doesn't slosh the moment you pick the tray up.

The ribbed roll-off ramp is what meters paint onto the sleeve. Load in the well, then roll up the ramp two or three times to work it evenly through the pile. Skip that and the first pass goes on heavy while the second goes on dry.

Worth pairing with liners

Anza make liners specifically for this tray, sold in twos. They save washing out, make colour changes instant, and stop the roll-off ramp being scrubbed smooth over time — which is the thing that quietly ruins a tray long before it cracks.

One caution: Anza's Fill & Carry 3.3L is a different 9 inch tray and takes a different liner. If that's the one you own, these liners won't fit it.

Takes standard 9 inch sleeves.
