The reason people scratch glass is almost never the scraper. It's a blade that stopped being sharp two windows ago.

A sharp blade lifts paint off glass at a shallow angle with very little pressure. A blunt one skips — and the moment you lean on it to compensate, it starts dragging grit across the pane instead of slicing underneath the paint. Changing blades often is the whole technique.

This is a pack of ten replacement blades for the Anza Glass Scraper 40mm.

Working with them

• Wet the glass first. A dry scrape on dry glass is where scratches come from. Water, or water with a little washing-up liquid in it, floats the debris out of the blade's path.
• Keep the angle shallow — around 30 degrees — and let the edge do the work rather than your shoulder.
• Change the blade the moment it drags. At this price a blade costs a fraction of a pane of glass, and considerably less than the conversation about who scratched it.
• Check the glass before you start. Some low-E, self-cleaning and toughened glass carries a coating on the exposed face that will mark whatever you do. If in doubt, test in a corner.

Used blades are razor sharp — into a blade tin or a taped-up container, never loose into a bin bag where someone empties it by hand.
