Anza 3 Row Wire Brush
A wire brush is a preparation tool, and the number of rows tells you how aggressive it is.
Three rows is the middle ground — enough bite to take off rust, flaking paint and loose material, without the harshness of a four-row brush that will score anything softer.
Where it's used
- Rust and mill scale on railings, gates and metalwork, before priming.
- Flaking and blown paint on masonry, render and rough timber.
- Green growth and loose material on exterior walls, ahead of washing down.
- Cleaning mortar and dried compound off tools and surfaces.
Using it well
Work along the surface rather than digging into it. The wire does the cutting — pressure just bends the bristles over and shortens the brush's life without removing any more material.
On metalwork, brush back to bright, sound metal and prime the same day. Freshly exposed steel starts to flash rust within hours in Irish weather, and priming over flash rust means doing the whole job again.
What it isn't for
Anything you want to keep smooth. A wire brush leaves a scratch pattern in softwood, and on galvanised or coated metal it takes the coating off along with whatever you were aiming at.
