Glutofill Wooden Stirring Stick 450mm
A 450mm wooden stirring stick — long enough to reach the bottom of a 10 litre bucket without putting your knuckles in the paint, and wide enough at 35mm to actually move material rather than just swirl it.
Why it matters more than it looks. Pigment, extender and matting agent settle in the tin between the factory and your job. If the bottom third is not lifted and folded back through, the first litre out of the tin is thin and the last is heavy — and on a matt emulsion, under-stirring is one of the common causes of patchy sheen that only shows up once the wall dries. Stir up from the base and fold, do not whisk, or you beat air into the paint.
Wood over metal. A wooden stick will not scratch the lining of a tin or a plastic pail, and it is cheap enough to throw away, which is the point — a stick that has been through solvent-based paint has no business going into a water-based one, and a stick that stirred a dark tint will find its way into your white.
Useful too for boxing paint between tins to even out batch variation, and for propping a lid open while a tin drains.
