Ronseal Anti Condensation Paint

Black mould in the corner of a bedroom, along a cold external wall, or across a ceiling above a bathroom is almost never a damp problem in the building. It's condensation — warm, moist air meeting a surface cold enough to take it below dew point. Wash the mould off and it comes back, because the cold surface is still there.

Ronseal Anti Condensation Paint goes after the cause rather than the symptom. The formulation carries insulating microspheres that raise the surface temperature of the wall slightly. A warmer surface means airborne moisture no longer condenses on it — and with no liquid water sitting on the wall, mould has nothing to grow in.

Where it works

Interior walls and ceilings, in the places condensation actually collects: behind furniture on external walls, in unheated or under-heated bedrooms, above showers and baths, in utility rooms, and around window reveals.

What it is not

Worth being clear about. This treats surface condensation. It is not a damp-proofer, and it will not solve penetrating damp, rising damp or a leak. If moisture is coming through the wall rather than settling on it, this is the wrong product and the source needs fixing first. It also isn't insulation in the building-fabric sense — the effect is at the surface only.

Application

Water-based, matt white. Don't spread it thin: the film needs body to work, so resist the urge to brush or roll it out too far. Allow around four hours before the second coat.
