Petersons 12 Inch Paragon Double Arm Frame
Above about nine inches, a single-arm roller frame starts to flex. The cage is supported at one end only, so pressure at the far end deflects the sleeve and you lay down an uneven film across the width — heavier on one side, lighter on the other. On a large wall or ceiling, that shows as banding the moment side light hits it.
A double arm frame supports the cage at both ends. The sleeve stays parallel to the surface however hard you push, which is why 12 inch and larger rollers are generally built this way.

- For 12 inch sleeves only. Double arm frames aren't adjustable — the cage is fixed at that width.
- Lightweight metal construction. Weight matters more than it sounds at this size: a loaded 12 inch sleeve is heavy before you add the frame, and much of this work is overhead.
- Flat section on the frame, which makes washing out considerably quicker than a fully round cage.
- Quick sleeve change, no tools needed.
Getting the benefit from it
A 12 inch roller only pays off if the rest of the setup keeps up with it. Pair it with a 12 inch tray or a roll-off bucket rather than trying to load from a 9 inch tray, and put it on a pole.
The whole point of the extra width is fewer passes and fewer reloads — and you give most of that back if you're climbing up and down to a tray on the floor between every stroke.
