Mirka DEOS II 663 Delta 100x152x152 - 3.0 Orbit Electric Sander
Every painted staircase has spindles and every sash window has glazing bars. Somewhere on most jobs there is a mitre, an internal corner or a moulding no flat machine will reach, and that is where the time goes.
The Mirka DEOS II 663 Delta 100x152x152 is the triangular version of Mirka's direct electric orbital sander, 3mm orbit on a 300 W brushless motor. Mirka's own line on the shape is that it suits precise sanding of corners, profiles, vertical surfaces and hard to reach areas at any angle. At 0.97kg and 10cm high it will work above your head or flat against a wall without becoming a wrestling match.
What the delta shape buys you
The tip goes into an internal corner and along a profile, and the two long edges give you a flat reference for the straight sections either side. One tool does the detail and the surface around it, instead of machine sanding the panel then hand sanding everything near an edge.
353 or 663
Identical machines under the housing: same 300 W motor, same 3mm orbit, same 5,000 to 10,000 rpm, same 0.97kg. The only real differences are the plate shape and a single decibel. The 353 is the rectangle, and it is faster on flat runs like doors and sills. The 663 is the triangle, and it is the one that gets into the work. If most of your day is panels, buy the 353. If most of it is joinery with shapes in it, buy this.
The tip wears first
All the pressure on a delta ends up at the front corner, so that is where the abrasive and the plate both go. A pad saver under the abrasive takes it instead, and we stock them in 100x152x152mm specifically for the 663. Abranet in this size runs P120 to P240 for filler and keying, and there is a Gold paper version if you prefer a coated abrasive.
Vibration, dust and dry use
Mirka publish 2.6 m/s² with an uncertainty of 1.5 m/s², measured to EN 62841 and EN 60745, and their manual is clear that laboratory figures are not a risk assessment and that real site readings can be higher. The onboard sensor and the myMirka app are there so you can measure your own. It runs on central vacuum rather than a bag, and the hose is bought separately. Dry work only: the manual says not to expose it to rain or wet conditions, and calls for a face mask, safety glasses, ear protection and gloves.
