Hazard information
Not classified as hazardous under CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. No hazard pictogram or signal word applies. The label carries the following statement:
- EUH208: Contains 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one, mixture of 5-chloro-2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one and 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (3:1). May produce an allergic reaction.
Read the label before use. Hazard information taken from the manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet, version 2.0.1, revision 15.09.2025. Decotric publish that sheet in German only; the current version is available from them at sds@decotric.de.
Woodchip that has been painted three times does not come off with a scraper and a bucket of warm water. It needs something that gets through the paint film and into the paste behind it, and enough time sitting wet on the wall to do it.
Decotric Rapid-Action Wallpaper Remover Spray is the ready to use answer to that: 1 litre at working strength, no mixing and no measuring. Decotric list it as article 043923001, Tapeten-Schnell-Löser.
Ready to use, not a concentrate
Worth getting right, because we stock both. This one sprays straight from the bottle onto the wall. Decotric's concentrate version is diluted 250ml into 5 litres of water, which costs far less per wall but needs a bucket, a brush and somewhere to put them. Take this one for a single room, a stairwell, or anywhere carrying a bucket of solution up a ladder is the bigger problem.
Coverage and how it goes on
- 1 litre covers 12 to 15 m², roughly the walls of one average room
- All wallpaper types and woodchip, per Decotric's own data sheet
- Spray it on generously and let it soak through; the paper then pulls away
- Two or three applications wet on wet for anything stubborn, which works better than one heavy pass
Score it first if it is washable
Water resistant and washable papers have to be opened up before anything can get behind them. Decotric say to go over them with a spiked roller or coarse abrasive paper first. Skip that on a vinyl and you will spray the face of the paper, wait, and find it bone dry underneath.
Mask off whatever you are not treating. Residue wipes off with water.
Technical
- Base: non-ionic surfactants, water and additives
- Density: approximately 1 g/cm³
- pH: 9.5 to 10
It is not classified as hazardous under CLP, but it does contain isothiazolinone preservatives that can cause an allergic reaction, and spraying it means working in the mist of it. Decotric recommend eye protection and gloves, and respiratory protection where you are spraying overhead.
