Anza 600mm Wallpaper Tearing Ruler with Level

Two jobs, one tool: getting the first drop plumb, and trimming every drop cleanly at the ceiling and skirting.

This is a 600mm stainless steel paperhanging ruler with an integrated spirit level and an easy-grip handle.

The level

Nothing in a house is plumb. Hang the first drop to the corner rather than to a plumb line and every drop after it drifts — by the time you get round the room, the pattern is visibly out.

The built-in vials let you set that first drop true without carrying a separate level, and check as you go.

The tearing edge

Hold the rule tight into the angle at the ceiling or skirting and either tear the surplus against it or run a blade along it. That gives a straight, repeatable cut in place — faster and far more accurate than measuring, taking the paper down and cutting it on the table.

Stainless matters here. Paste is wet and constant, and a mild steel rule rusts, then marks every piece of paper it touches afterwards.

Practical notes

• Wipe the rule between drops — paste build-up on the edge stops it sitting flat into the angle.
• If you're trimming with a knife rather than tearing, change blades constantly. A dull blade drags wet paper instead of cutting it, and wet paper tears in whatever direction it likes.
• 600mm covers a standard drop width comfortably in two positions.
