Anza 280mm Wallpaper Hanging Tool
Once a length of paper is on the wall you have a short window to get the air out and the paper flat before the paste begins to grab. What you use to do that decides how the finished wall looks.
This is a 280mm plastic smoothing tool — a wide, flexible blade for driving air and surplus paste out from the centre of a drop towards the edges.
Why a smoother rather than a brush
A smoother applies firm, even pressure across its full width, which is what you want on vinyls, heavy embossed papers and anything with a washable surface. It moves air decisively rather than persuading it, and it gets properly into internal corners where a brush wants to bridge.
On delicate or uncoated papers it can be too much — those want a paperhanging brush instead, which is gentler and won't burnish the surface to a shine.
Using it
- Work from the centre of the drop outwards and downwards, in overlapping strokes.
- Keep the blade at a shallow angle. Held too upright it stretches the paper rather than smoothing it.
- Wipe it as you go. Dried paste on the edge is what scores a line down the next drop.
- Into corners, use the edge of the blade to define the crease before you trim.
