Blue Dolphin 2 Inch 30 Days Render Tape

Render tape is built for the one job ordinary masking tape fails at: sticking to brick, stone and block that is rough, dusty and cold, and then coming off cleanly weeks later. This is Blue Dolphin's 30 day tape, with a noticeably more aggressive adhesive than their standard orange tape — it grips masonry and holds through wind and rain while the render or paint goes on around it.

What it is for:

• Masking brickwork, stonework and plinths before rendering
• Protecting reveals, cills and features from render splash
• Exterior masking that has to survive a few days of weather

The 30 days is a limit, not a target. That is the rated outdoor life — leave it on longer, especially on a south-facing wall in summer, and the adhesive starts to bake on and you will be picking residue off the brick. Get it off inside the window and it comes away clean.

Two practical points. Brush the surface down first — this tape sticks well to masonry but nothing sticks to loose dust. And pull it back on itself at a shallow angle rather than straight out, which reduces the chance of lifting a weak render edge with it.

Not the tape for crisp paint lines. The adhesive is deliberately strong, so on smooth trim, fresh paintwork or wallpaper it can pull the surface. Use a delicate or standard masking tape for those.
