Wooster Silver Tip Soft Semi-Oval Angle Sash Paint Brushes
Look at a standard brush end-on and it's a flat rectangle. A semi-oval is rounded — thicker through the middle, tapering towards the edges. That one change of shape does something specific: it holds considerably more paint.
More paint per load means longer between reloads, and a wet edge that runs further before it starts to drag.
Why oval and soft together
The oval profile concentrates the filament, so the brush releases paint steadily rather than dumping it at the start of a stroke and running dry by the end.
Combine that with the soft Silver Tip filament and you get a long, even, well-levelled stroke — which is precisely what you want laying off a door or a run of skirting in one pass.
Where it fits
- Long runs of trim — skirting, dado, picture rail — where reload frequency is what's actually costing you time.
- Doors and panelled work, where you want to cover and cut in with the same brush rather than swapping.
- Finish coats in water-based satin and gloss.
It's still angled, so it cuts in — but with more body behind the tip than a flat-stock brush. Some decorators use nothing else on trim for exactly that reason.
Sizes
1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3 inch. Worth knowing that an oval carries more paint than a flat brush of the same nominal width, so you may find you drop a size from what you're used to.
