Staalmeester 9030 Synthetic Round Sash Paint Brush Set (5 Pack)

Staalmeester's round sash brushes — "patent point" in their own naming — are the Dutch tradition of brush making: a densely filled, tapered round head that carries far more paint than a flat brush and still comes to a fine point for cutting in.

This set is five brushes: four round sash and one bent fitch.

What's in the set

• 1 × round sash, size 14 — the smallest, for frames and detail.
• 2 × round sash, size 16 — the everyday size, and two of them because it's the one you'll reach for most.
• 1 × round sash, size 18 — for larger areas and longer runs.
• 1 × bent fitch, size 17 — angled, for corners, rebates and getting in behind pipework.

The filament

Synthetic mix, in Staalmeester's fuchsia colour. Suitable for water-based and synthetic paints, which covers most modern trim and joinery work.

A mix filament sits between pure natural bristle and pure synthetic — it keeps some of the paint-holding character of bristle while staying usable in water without going soft on you by mid-afternoon.

Why a round brush at all

A round head holds several times the paint of a flat brush of similar width, so you reload far less often. The taper means you still get a fine edge to cut in with.

It takes a little getting used to if you've only ever used flat brushes. Most people who make the switch don't go back.

Which of the two sets

This is the larger one. The 9900 Pro-Hybrid is a three-brush set in 100% synthetic filament at a lower price — a smaller commitment if you want to try the shape before buying into it properly.

Rest of Europe — non-liquid items only, from €11.75, priced by destination and weight at checkout. Paint and other liquids ship to Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain only.

Dispatch and collection — order before 12pm Monday to Friday and it ships the same day. Click & collect at Ballymount, Dublin 12 is free and often ready within the hour.

Returns — 14 days to change your mind and 14 more to send it back. Tinted paint is non-returnable once mixed.
