Juno D70 Thinner for Polyurethane Enamels and Varnishes
Polyurethane coatings won't thin correctly with an ordinary mineral or aromatic thinner. The solvent blend has to match the resin system — get it wrong and you'll see poor flow, a cloudy finish, or a film that never reaches full hardness. Juno D-70 is the thinner formulated for that job.
It combines aromatic hydrocarbons, esters and ketones. The ester and ketone content is what makes it work on polyurethane where a straight hydrocarbon thinner simply won't.
What it's for
- Polyurethane enamels, including Juno's own Junoretano 2K.
- Polyurethane varnishes and lacquers.
- Cleaning guns, lines, brushes and rollers immediately after polyurethane work — before the coating starts to cure.
Getting it right
With a two-pack polyurethane, thin only after base and hardener are mixed at the correct ratio, and work inside the pot life. Thinning does not extend it.
Dilute at the rate given on the paint's data sheet. Over-thinning a 2K coating reduces film build and can leave the cured film soft — the opposite of why you chose polyurethane in the first place.
Clean equipment straight after use. Once polyurethane has cured inside a gun or line, no thinner will get it out.
Not a general-purpose thinner
For synthetic enamels and primers use D-16; for chlorinated rubber or pliolite use D-40.
Supplied in 1 litre. Solvent-based — ventilate the work area, wear suitable gloves, and keep away from ignition sources.
